I’m Nicole Hess,
a digital product designer

I have over 10 years experience with usability, user interface design, and product design, creating intuitive experiences across the product development lifecycle. I currently work for a large Fortune 500 healthcare company, creating everything from complex workflows and robust user experiences to tools that enhance internal processes and data management.

In my role as a Senior User Interface Designer at DaVita, I led the design of patient-facing tools that empowered people to take control of their health, including a patient health portal and diet tracking tool. I am skilled in presenting to customers and working with large stakeholder groups. I collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, researchers, and data science teams on creating quality web experiences.

I am passionate about my work. Digital design combines my love of research and deep-dive information gathering, visual design, and technology. I enjoy the creative problem-solving process, and am experienced in designing for web accessibility. One of my favorite aspects of my work is advocating for brand and design consistency across products. I am always on the lookout for ways to improve processes.

I have been described by peers as someone who is thoughtful and intentional, collaborative, and a teammate who brings a positive attitude to projects. Beyond work, I enjoy exploring downtown Fort Collins with my family, going to the dog park with our Great Pyrenees, Zeus, making quilts, listening to podcasts, gardening, and collecting vintage cameras.
